How to add steps to a training course

Training courses are a series of lessons organized into training course steps. Each training course step can include an assignment (test or survey) and attachments (training course materials). This article explains how to add new steps to a training course.

Add steps to a training course #

  1. Navigate to the Training courses tab.
  2. Choose All training courses.
  3. Click on the name of the training course that you want to edit.
  4. Navigate to the Steps tab.
  5. Click on the Create new button.

    In the pop-up window:

    1. Enter the name of the training course step (Mandatory).
    2. Enter a description – You may describe the learning content of this step (Optional).
    3. Click the Save button to add a step.

    Each training course step may contain a test to examine the candidate’s knowledge or a survey to collect important information.

    Adding test to a training course step #

    To add a test to a training course step, click the “Add test” button. You can:

    1. Assign an existing test from the system.
    2. Create an ad hoc test – A test is generated using the selected question pool and settings defined during the creation of an ad-hoc test in this module. Adding an ad-hoc test to a training course step automatically creates a ‘Self-enrollment’ session, which is accessible only to candidates already assigned to the training course.

    Adding a survey to a training course step #

    You can add an existing survey to a training course step. Surveys are typically useful in the final step of the training course, allowing you to gather information from candidates, such as their examination experience.

    To add a survey to a training course:

    1. Click the Add survey button.
    2. Click the Assign button next to the desired survey.

    Uploading attachments to the step #

    Attachments represent different types of training material. They can be a document, image, video, audio, link, etc. In the course, each step can either have multiple attachments, a single one, or no attachments.

    To add a multimedia file to the created step:

    1. Click on the Settings button.
    2. Choose the Add attachment option.

    In the pop-up window:

    1. Enter the name of the attachment file (Mandatory).
    2. Enter a description (Optional).
    3. From the dropdown menu, choose the attachment type (PDF, Video, Picture…).
    4. Click the “Save” button to add the file.

    Adding multimedia files from the library #

    You can choose to add a multimedia file from the library. You just need to:

    1. Click on the Settings button.
    2. Choose the Import attachment from media library option.
    3. Optionally check the box View all attachments from the system.
    4. Click on the Preview button to see the file or the Import button to add it as an attachment to the step.

    Other settings of the training course step #

    Click on the “Settings” button, and from the dropdown menu, choose one of the following actions:

    1. Edit step metadata and ordinal number – change the name, description, and order of steps in the training course.
    2. Delete the training course step.
